I am organizing a wonderful (fictitious) luncheon that will be held at Bethune Cookman University and I am pretty sure the first thing that students will expect is chicken wings or hamburgers. But those foods will NOT be distributed at this luncheon. The goal of my luncheon is to inform students about the dangers of fatty foods, not feed them these foods. So at this luncheon (by the way, its called the "Get Close to your Glucose" celebrity Luncheon), we are only serving healthy foods. Again, I know what your thinking: "Gross, who wants to eat healthy?" But I assure you these foods will taste awesome. Some of the foods include Asian Vegetable salads, Lemon-Pepper chicken and Rice Pilaf . MMMMM! Yummy, right? And they don't take long to make. These are just a few easy-making foods that can tantalize your taste buds. Below I have included some other foods you should try.
- Curried chicken Salad
- Turkey or Chicken Gravy
- Collard Greens
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich
- Italian Chicken Salad Pita
- Mexican Pita Pile Ups
- California Sandwich
And Plenty of more recipes listed on dlife.com. Check them out!
Then tell me: What types of foods do you usually include in your diet that are considered healthy and how often do you eat them? If there is none, then do you think the foods I listed will become apart of your overall diet?
I usually have a variety of foods I include in my diet,I go through times during each month when I want to eat healthy or just have a big slice of chocolate cake everyday. Some may call that weird, but I like the moderation in my diet. Recently, I have increased the amount of healthy foods I choose to cook with, but I always have craving for something high in calories. The "Curried Chicken Salad" on dlife.com,looks pretty good,I might actually try that next time in hankering for a healthy snack.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't eat any healthy foods really. It's quite sad. I eat a bunch of junk food and I love sweets! I don't eat a lot of foods because I'm a very picky eater. I don't like any of the foods listed, so I will not be adding them to my diet anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I should eat good now, and worry about eating healthier later. I know that's bad but all the good food is bad for you!
I am currently trying to stop eating fried foods, hamburgers and pizza, but it's so hard when it's soooo convenient. I do try to include more baked and healthier foods like the ones you have mentioned. In the years to come I hope to have a set healthy diet not only for myself, but for my family as well.
ReplyDeleteYummy...I love Collard greens, but of course with neck bones and hamhocks!!!
ReplyDeleteEvery summer, I go through this phase, and I try to work out and eat healthier. Last summer proved to be really effective. This summer is going even better. However, during fall and spring term, I find it very hard to keep my diet and find time to exercise. During those semesters, I juggle classes, work, internships, school organizations and other extra-curricular activities. It's just easier for me to stop by Whataburger and grab something to eat!
I am getting a lttle better at eating healthier foods. Sometimes, healthy food can be so expensive, like the organic foods. I have found that some may healthy foods may be cost efficient, though. One thing that I love to cook when I'm on a tight budget is cabbage! I looooove cabbage, and it's healthy, too!!!!
Though they are expensive when not in season, I always keep fruit! I, actually, have two watermelons ready to be eaten, now!!!! lol I'm not sure the price of the foods you listed above, but I'm surely going to try them!
I eat a lot of carrots. It started when I was younger. My friends used to laugh at me in elementary school because I had carrots packed in my lunch box, while they were smacking on Doritos and Cheetos. I didn't let that bother me though because my mom always told me that carrots were good for my eyesight. Besides, they were tasty. I pour some ranch on the side of my plate and use it for dip and I'm good.
ReplyDeleteThis is an intersting blog...I usally eat a well balance diet throughout the day, I am constantly on the go, so i make sure I have healthy snacks to bring along with me. to J.J.#1 carrots are good and your mom was tellin the truth...they are good for your eyes...lol
ReplyDeleteI have always been the one that doesn't like to follow the trend everyone else is,but eating healthy is part of lif. I think eating right and going green are the fads for 2009.It's good to see that students are taking time to look at these issues and take charge of their bad habits...GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PROJECT!!
ReplyDeleteThe menu for your fictitious luncheon sounds delicious! I love lemon-pepper chicken.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult, often inconvenient, and somewhat expensive to eat healthy foods on an ongoing, regular basis. As I mentioned on this blog site last week, I try very hard to eat the right things, but my schedule (especially during the fall and spring) just doesn't allow me to do so as much as I should.
I think students are more aware of the need to be healthy today. Many students are vegetarians or vegans. I think this is a good thing and a step int he right direction when students become more focused on their health.
I find that eating heathy gets even harder when you become a parent. I make the time to feed my daughter meals with a variety of fruits and vegtables; however, I can't seem to find the time to do it myself.
ReplyDeleteI have found that replacing sodas with a hot tea (green is my favorite) can acutally boost energy.
